It was the reed used to make the butt of the chairs, mats, baskets,…this trade is in disuse. Another similar (Juncos acutus) was used to make the esqueros or garlitos (kind of funnel used for fishing), in our rivers this plant and its variants proliferate, we can even find it in some streams.

Description
It is an evergreen rhizomatous herbaceous plant that forms clumps up to 80 centimeters high. The inflorescence is an open array of many such clusters with up to 20 flowers each. The flower has segments a few millimeters long that can be light reddish-brown to greenish in color.
