Easter Monday

For centuries, on Easter Monday, a pilgrimage has been held at the Cruce de la Mejorada.

The three towns (Puerto de Santa Cruz, Abertura and Villamesías) meet there, although lately they come from more distant towns such as Pizarro, Campo-Lugar, Miajadas, etc. This custom began many years ago, since on this day there was a procession from Villamesías to the crossroads where the Hermitage of San Pedro was located (there are no longer any remains) and this area was called “Dehesa de San Pedro”.

A dance was held in the village, which was attended by people from all over the area, even from Trujillo, dressed in the typical dress of the area.
